Verti-draining the greens

These pictures show Julian verti-draining the 18th green. The machine punches holes in the turf to a depth of up to 12 inches, this action is designed to relieve compaction and improve the action of water through the soil. Surfaces that are dry are much less prone to disease, compaction and general sward deterioration. In the longer term the holes made by the verti-drain will provide the perfect space for the grass roots to grow into.
